About the Company

Trucchi S.r.l. is a building materials distributor based in Ventimiglia, Italy, with over fifty years of trading history supplying porcelain stoneware tiles, marble and natural stone, bathroom furnishings, taps, and hardware. The company operates three distinct physical units. The Trucchi Showroom on Corso Genova is a 1,000m² experience centre displaying porcelain stoneware, wood and SPC flooring, fully furnished bathrooms, and designer taps. The Ceramic Store at Corso Genova 66 runs as an outlet with discounts up to 70%. Trucchi Edilizia e Marmi on Via Freccero houses the construction materials branch and an in-house marble workshop producing made-to-measure stone pieces. The location near the French border means the business serves clients across Italy and the French Riviera, making multi-currency and cross-border capability a hard requirement.

The Challenges

Trucchi had built its reputation over five decades through in-person, project-based sales. The technical knowledge sitting inside the business was real: specifying the right tile for a slip-resistance requirement, matching a stone finish to an architect's brief, fabricating a bespoke marble piece. None of it was visible online. A homeowner in Nice or a contractor in Genoa had no way to find Trucchi or understand what set it apart.

Getting the catalogue online was not the simple part. Tiles and stone carry technical specification that a standard ecommerce template does not handle. Material, finish, size, thickness, and slip-resistance rating all matter to a professional making a specification decision. Without the right filtering, a contractor trying to find a rectified marble-effect porcelain in 120x60 with an R10 slip rating either cannot find it or gives up and calls a rep.

The two buying modes were fundamentally different and needed to coexist. A homeowner buying three boxes of wall tile wants to add to cart and check out. A contractor ordering 400m² for a commercial fit-out needs a quote, a delivery schedule, and possibly a custom marble component from the workshop. Forcing both through the same checkout, or splitting them across two sites, would have broken one or both.

Driving showroom footfall was a third requirement. The highest-value orders Trucchi closes happen in person. The platform needed to convert online research into showroom visits, not just online transactions.

Our Solution

Tiles IT Solutions built Trucchi's platform on Magento with a bespoke minimalist theme and a set of custom modules that handle the specific commercial workflows a business like this actually runs.

The homepage is built around immediate category discovery. A horizontally scrollable catalogue module leads with lifestyle imagery across all seven product lines: Flooring, Wall Covering, Sanitary Wares, Taps, Wellness and Spa, Outlet, and Outdoor. Two persistent CTAs sit in the sticky header across every page: Showroom Appointment and Contact for a Quote. A visitor who arrives from a Google search for Italian marble tiles and a visitor who arrives looking to book a consultation both find their path within one click, on every page.

The filtering layer was built for trade-grade specification. Each category exposes a deep faceted sidebar covering Brand, Material, Effect, Size, Finish, Colour, Price, Thickness, and slip-resistance rating down to R9, R10, and DS classifications. That last filter is the one a safety-conscious professional or a commercial architect needs when specifying a wet-area floor. Every product tile shows both a unit price and a price per square metre, matching how contractors actually quote jobs.

Every product page carries two calls to action side by side. Add to Cart for direct purchase. Quote for trade and bulk enquiries, which opens a lead capture form with name, email, phone, product detail, and a file attachment field for drawings or project briefs. Both actions route correctly without the buyer having to navigate elsewhere. A homeowner and a contractor can start from the same product page and end up in the right workflow without any confusion about which path is for them.

The appointment booking module was built as a parallel conversion path. From any product or category page, a visitor can request a showroom appointment by selecting a preferred day, time, and project type. This turns online research directly into high-value in-person conversations, which is where Trucchi has always closed its largest orders. The digital platform does not try to replace the showroom. It feeds it.

The implementation challenge was the multi-currency and cross-border setup. Trucchi's customer base spans Italy and France, with different tax treatments, different delivery logistics, and buyers who may browse in one currency and enquire in another. A locale and currency switcher was built into the persistent header, with EUR as the primary display currency and GBP visible for cross-border buyers. Pricing, tax calculation, and shipping methods all respond to the selected locale.

Checkout was kept deliberately low-friction for retail buyers. No forced account creation. Social login via Google and Facebook at both account and checkout level. Live shipping method selection. Two steps: Shipping, then Review and Payment.

Before and After Scenario

Before: Trucchi's expertise and product range were invisible online. A contractor in Nice had no way to find them, filter by slip rating, or request a trade quote without cold-calling. Homeowners browsing for bathroom tiles found no structured path through the catalogue. Showroom appointments happened by word of mouth or phone. The business's fifty years of product knowledge existed only inside the building.

After: The full catalogue is online with trade-grade filtering down to slip-resistance rating and surface effect. A contractor submits a quote request with drawings attached directly from a product page. A homeowner books a showroom appointment in two clicks from a category page. The business operates across Italy and France from one platform, with currency and locale switching in the header. Trucchi's expertise is visible before a customer ever walks through the door.

Business Outcomes

  • Full catalogue online with trade-grade filtering, including slip-resistance ratings and thickness specs that signal professional-grade supplier credibility to architects and contractors
  • Dual purchase paths on every product page, with Add to Cart for retail and Quote for trade, capturing both buyer types from the same catalogue without forcing either through the wrong flow
  • Showroom appointment booking integrated site-wide, converting online product research directly into in-person consultations where Trucchi closes its highest-value orders
  • Cross-border multi-currency support built in, with locale and currency switching covering Trucchi's Italy and French Riviera customer base from one platform
  • Three physical locations given distinct digital identities, helping trade buyers self-select the right point of contact before calling
  • Low-friction retail checkout with social login, keeping abandonment low for homeowners who do not want to create an account to buy three boxes of wall tile

Trucchi spent fifty years building a reputation through face-to-face expertise. The platform does not try to replace that. It makes the expertise findable, the catalogue navigable, and the first conversation with the right person easier to start.
